Permit to Audit

Description

While auditing a course, you will have access to all class materials but will likely not need to complete homework or take any exams. You may also be encouraged to participate in the class, but this is usually not required. At the end of the term, you will not receive a letter grade. Auditing a course means that you receive no academic credit for it. In place of the grade, transcripts will show as "T."

  • A student may enroll to audit a course when the student does not desire to earn academic credit for the course.
  • The same registration procedures are followed and the same tuition and fees are charged as for credit courses.
  • An audit form must be completed, by the last day to register or enter a class.
  • Audited courses are not eligible to receive federal financial aid or veterans benefits.
  • Student must be registered for the course before the audit request can be processed.
  • A grade of T is awarded for all audited courses, and no academic credit is awarded.
  • Audited courses cannot apply to any degree or certificate programs.
  • Students auditing a course are expected to follow the university‚Äôs attendance policy. Other course requirements will vary depending upon the nature of the course and the individual instructor or program.
  • Any change from audit to credit or credit to audit must be completed by the last day to register for a class.
  • Refunds for withdrawals from audited courses are calculated according to NKU policy.
