Check Windows OS Version

Knowing your Windows OS version can be useful when troubleshooting or installing software. Follow these steps to find your Windows version.

 

Option 1: Using Settings
  1. Open the Start Menu

    • Click on the Start button (Windows logo) in the bottom-left corner of your screen.
  2. Go to 'Settings'

    • Click on the gear icon or type "Settings" in the search bar and hit Enter.
  3. Navigate to 'System'

    • In the Settings window, click on System.
  4. Check the 'About' Section

    • On the left sidebar, scroll down and select About.
    • Under the Windows specifications section, you'll see your Windows Edition (e.g., Windows 10, Windows 11) and the version number.

 
Option 2: Using the Run Command
  1. Open the 'Run' Dialog:

    • Press Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog.
  2. Run the 'winver' Command:

    • In the Run box, type winver and press Enter.
  3. View OS Information:

    • A new window will appear showing the Windows version and build number.
