You can Edit the captions of any Kaltura video within your My Media area.
To access the Caption Editor click on the Pencil Icon to the right of any video in your My Media Area.
Then click on the Captions tab beneath the video
Click on Edit Captions
From here you will see a list of tools and your captions along the left column of the preview video. Look below for details on all the functions of this page.
- Revert/Save – You can click Revert to undo the most recent change you have made in your captions. You can click Save to keep all currently made changes to your file. It is a good practice to make saves often.
- AutoScroll – Clicking this toggle will turn on/off the Autoscrolling that occurs when the preview is playing, highlighting what captions are currently showing as the video progresses.
- Choose Caption File – Labeled as ‘English – English’ this drop down is where you can select which caption file you would like to edit (if there are multiple applied to the video currently open.
Edit Details – In this window you can change the Language, if available, the Accuracy, and the Label of the caption file.
- Search – The search bar allows you to search the captions for a word, highlighting the captions that contain it.
- Replace – Allows you to replace all existing uses of a word with anot
her chosen word. Useful when the captions continue to mistake one word with another.
- Add Speaker – Allows you to assign a name to selected captions adding the speaker’s name when the caption shows in the file. Useful with multiple speakers or when someone is speaking out of frame.
- Preview Video – Preview the video player in real time as you make correct captions and adjust timing.
- Caption Adjustment – Selecting a specific caption allows you to adjust it to suit the video.
Caption timing – Adjust the time the caption is shown on the video. The first line showing the start time of the caption and the second when the caption ends. Adjustments in order ‘Hours : Minutes : Seconds , Miliseconds
Caption Text – Where you can adjust the text shown in the caption
Delete – Delete the corresponding caption. This will not adjust the timing of adjacent captions.
Add Caption - Inserts a new caption after the currently selected caption. The new line will have copied text of the previous caption with the added [COPY] prior. It will also shorten the length of the previous caption.
