Best Practices with Turnitin and Plagiarism Reports

Body

Turnitin similarity reports do not indicate plagiarism and are only to serve as a potential warning sign. Further investigation and interpretation is always required, even if the percentage matching is as high as 100%.

Turnitin results should never be directly used to influence grades as the matching percentage of text can be greatly influenced by the length of a student submission, common terms or phrases, other student submissions that use similar language (such as question prompts), or unrelated web results using similar phrases.
